Joseph had been helping at the church construction site for the past week. On Friday, July 12, he decided to work on our roads and was working with some other boys picking rocks with a pick when suddenly a rock about the size of a marble flew up and hit his left eye.

We drove Joseph to the hospital in Tegucigalpa to be examined by doctors, and he had surgery at 3pm that afternoon. We left the hospital at 7:00 p.m. and arrived home at 8:30pm. It was a long day since we had left home suddenly at about 9:45am.

Dr Fransico Bueso did a fine job. We appreciate all who prayed for the surgical outcome. Part of Joseph’s pupil leaked out of the cornea & had to be placed back. He had to have 7 stitches. The cut was about 9 ml long. Not one time did Joseph complain about the pain. I believe all the prayers took his pain away.

We made the 90-minute drive back to the hospital on Saturday morning, and the doctor was pleased with his healing thus far, but he couldn’t determine anything at this point and we must wait until 15 days are up. We will return on Saturday, the 27th, so the doctor can examine Joseph’s eye again. He is hoping that the stitches will close the wound completely in these 15 days. If not, another surgery will be required. PLEASE PRAY THE STITCHES WILL CLOSE THE WOUND AND FOR NO INFECTION.

As for right now, he has to have his eye drops every 3 hours. He will have to wear his eye patch through today and then will need to wear goggles for about 13 days– until the doctor sees him again.

Thank you for praying for Joseph over the weekend. Please continue to pray for a complete recovery.  We have received phone calls and email messages.  Thank you for caring!  Your continued prayers are so much appreciated for our son.
