Dear Friends and prayers partners,

On the 4th of February. we had a huge forest fire on the mountain we live on. When we got home from school about 4:30pm, the fire was about 100ft up from our house. It was already so big it couldn’t be stopped. The firemen about 10 minutes away wouldn’t come and help us, so we dug a trench around most of our house and soaked the perimeter with water before night. It soon reached our fence and burned around down to the bottom of our property. Joseph, Samuel and 5 other men fought it with water and shovels, but it kept going. It eventually crossed our fence and one of our church ladies called the seminary boys to come help. At about 11 pm we pretty much had it out.

At 2am, after everyone left, it came back and got 3 feet from our wood cabin. And we were out of water! We soaked rugs and towels in water we had saved from our showers and beat it away from the cabin. The fire ended up burning about half of our property.

We were gone on the 5th of February when it started back up. It came to the other side of the fence and burnt some of our septic line and part of a septic tank. We thank The Lord our family and house were saved! We still have a smoke smell around the house but a good wash will hopefully rid it.

Thank you for praying for us. We were very thankful that we were here to control some of the fire. We thank everyone who prays for our ministry and for our family.

God bless
For the Cause,
Sam Hodges
